1960s King Cole Barkcloth Painted Rose Wiggle Dress
This incredible wiggle/shift dress from the late 1950s/early 1960s features a green tonal barkcloth material with citrus lemon accents. Hand painted in turquoise with black stem and leaf detailing, the front and back of the garment boast a captivating rose design.
Its sleeveless, round neck bodice is simple in design, but allows the fabric to make a bold statement. The hand painted pattern repeats on the back of the dress.
An acetate facing encircles the neckline and arm holes, while a lapped side zip fastening with a nylon zipper provides closure. A true show stopper! Great for a cocktail dress but can also pass as daywear.
Condition
Very good vintage condition. The zipper has been replaced due to damage and a nylon zipper is in situ. There are a couple of tiny bobbles/pulls to the rear of the dress - please see photos. You need to look super close to see them. The rose is hand painted and as such there are a couple of turquoise paint dots, but this adds to it rather than detracts.
