1970s Disco Sequin Marjon Couture Dress

Saturday Night Fever eat your heart out! This is a stunning example of a classic disco dress from the heart of the disco era.

She's a gorgeous aqua-turquoise shade in jersey with some stretch for comfort. A batwing style sleeve is grown on from the bodice which has ruching cords across the top of the shoulders and can be adjusted for as much or as little gather as you desire, and the cords then tie at the back. The full bodice comes down into gathers at the waist which is fully elasticated with a seafoam turquoise sequin band. The skirt is also gathered from the bottom of the band creating fullness and movement. Do the Hustle, anyone?

Although we have listed this dress as a size Clara, because of the stretch it will comfortably also fit sizes Bette, Dorothy and Esther.

Made in England (Mayfair) for Baker by a designer collab between Trina Lewis and Marjon Couture. Marjon Couture was a fashion brand established in the early 1950s and ran until the mid 70s created by Jonas and the name Marjon inspired by his first wife Marie. Trina Lewis was a business woman and dressmaker who created an ingenuous strapless bodice made of cambric and boned and taped for structure and support. This because widely acclaimed and made her a household name as it negated the need for the most tiresome of undergarments - the boned bra.
